Commissioned a new work by choreographer Kim Brandt, an artist known for creating slow‑moving sculptural dances with large ensembles of dancers. For Rockaway Beach, Brandt created Wayward, a new dance for eighteen dancers and a small group of children to be performed around, and on, a large man‑made dune to an audience 1000+.
“The unity of a group is what makes Brandt’s movement scores so vivid, especially in an ocean setting. When the mind is at work amid the sound and sensation of waves and wind, something else takes over. Instead of becoming one with pure feeling, the dancers are guided into a heightened sphere of grounded focus.” - New York Times, August 2025
